Bob Herrick

Bob Herrick, president of Robert D. Herrick Public Relations, is a consultant to Jonathan Lehrer Communications.

Herrick is a communications professional with four decades of experience in media, foundation and association settings.  His core competencies are in economic development, transportation and logistics, workforce development, grassroots political organizing and government affairs.

Herrick was vice president of communications and government affairs at the Will County (Ill.) Center for Economic Development (CED) prior to joining Jonathan Lehrer Communications, LLC.  Site Selection Magazine cited the CED as one of the top 20 economic development organizations in the U.S. on three occasions.

At the CED, Herrick directed internal and external communications programs, interfaced with the media, and facilitated grassroots initiatives in support of South Suburban Airport (for the Chicago region) and the southern extension of I-355.

He provided communications and government relations support for Three Rivers Manufacturers’ Association (a CED affiliate). His work there included developing and executing workforce development initiatives with local schools and helping to prepare the federally mandated Risk Management Plan for a consortium of chemical companies.

Herrick spent 21 years in broadcast news as a news director, reporter and talk show host and he’s written editorials as a member of the editorial board of a daily newspaper in the Chicago region.

Herrick is a member of the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority’s Local Advisory Committee for the southern extension of I-355. He is a commissioner with the Manhattan Fire Protection District.

Herrick periodically facilitates classes on contemporary issues, politics and religion at First Presbyterian Church in Joliet (Ill.). He has volunteered with numerous civic and charitable organizations. Herrick holds a journalism degree from the College of Saint Francis, Joliet.
